Stokes Farm Barn Wedding Photographer
Last summer I had an enormous pleasure to be a Stokes Farm Barn wedding photographer. It was at a beautiful Berkshire wedding of Matt and Jess. And it was truly one of a kind. So full of love, laughter and a lovely summer vibe!
I love photographing weddings in Berkshire. And the Stokes Farm Barn is such a perfect wedding venue for anyone looking to get married in this part of the UK.
Stokes Farm Barn Wedding Photos
Photographing a wedding at the Stokes Farm Barn was indeed great fun. I approach it in a typical Blue Lily Weddings style.
The goal was to document the wedding day in a natural and beautiful way and to make the photographs reflect that. All the big moments, but also all the small in-between ones. They are often even more important, bringing out the uniqueness of the wedding day and making it special and personal.
This set of photos should make everyone looking through them feel as if they were there. And for anyone who attended the wedding to bring them back to those unforgettable moments and feelings, reliving them all over again.

Berkshire Wedding Photographer
Photographing weddings in and around Berkshire is pretty much always a great experience. Berkshire is, in fact, the county where I photograph most of the weddings I work with. It must have something to do with a good number of beautiful wedding venues dotted around this lovely county. And also a large number of relaxed couples looking for someone to photograph their wedding day in a documentary and beautiful way. And that is how Blue Lily Weddings usually gets found!
Stokes Farm Barn Wedding Day Photography
Matt and Jess’s summer wedding day was everything a wedding photographer could ask for. A beautiful, loving couple surrounded by a bunch of relaxed and fun-loving wedding guests and families.
We started the photography on the day with a few photos of the groom getting ready with his groomsmen and best man in a nearby hotel. Funnily enough, I was able to tell where the groom’s hotel room would be by following the sounds of laughter form a few minutes away! So, even before meeting the groom and his groomsmen I knew it going to be a great wedding day with many photos to show for it. And I wasn’t mistaken!
After seeing the boys and a few fun photos of them just having a pint and putting the buttonholes on, off I was t see the bride and her bridesmaids.
The atmosphere in the bride’s parents house was also joyful and full of laughter. Jess, the bride, was getting ready surrounded by her maid of honour, her bridesmaids as well as the mother and father of the bride.
After a few photos of putting the makeup and the beautiful wedding dress on, we were on our way to a nearby church for the wedding ceremony. The church where the wedding ceremony took place was a modern one and really great to photograph with its interesting shapes, lines and angles. But most importantly the atmosphere was beautiful and emotional. After the vows, exchange of the rings and of course the first (and second!) kiss the newlyweds signed the register. Then it was the confetti part which is always great to photograph and off we were to the main wedding reception venue of the day-the Stokes Farm Barn.
Stokes Farm Barn Wedding Venue
The rest of the wedding day celebrations took place at the beautiful Berkshire barn wedding venue, the Stokes Farm Barn.
The Stokes Farm Barn is a family-run venue situated in Wokingham, Berkshire. The cosy and gorgeous Victorian timber barn is full of character and embraces every occasion. The beautiful oak beams and a neutral colour scheme complement every party theme. The barn is set on a fully working farm with various animals in the surrounding fields – a real attraction for younger guests! There were duck and geese in the nearby pond and cute and curious ponies in the paddock next door. The Stokes Farm offers all of the guests exclusive use of the barn and prides themselves in excellent service.
The weather on this Berkshire summer wedding day was just perfect-sunny and warm. As soon as we arrived to the Stokes Farm Barn we started with photographing the drinks reception. Then it was a few group photos with the bride and grooms family and friends. The wedding breakfast, which was a roast, was also great to photograph. Especially all the funny aprons that each carver received and other wedding guests reaction to them!
Then we moved to the wedding speeches, first by the father of the bride, the groom himself and the best man. I have to say that, at least, in my opinion, the father of the bride toped it. I haven’t seen so many wedding guests laughing so hard in a very long time!
After that, it was the traditional cutting of the wedding cake and the first dance, both always great to take photos of. And of course the party with so many crazy dancefloor moves!
All throughout the day, the Stokes Farm Barn served as a gorgeous backdrop to the wedding photos, making my job that much easier.
We even managed to sneak out for a few minutes with the bride and groom to take a few photos of just the two of them in a soft late afternoon summer light. And they absolutely rocked it!
