It was so much fun to be a Colville Hall wedding photographer at a recent Essex wedding of Louise and Bobby.

Colville Hall is such a beautiful wedding venue. It is simply a complete package for anyone getting married in Essex. Colville Hall has beautiful buildings and rooms, full of character and a rustic barn charm. The wedding venue is also surrounded by lovely grounds with wheat fields, gardens and water features.

All of those make for a perfect backdrop for anyone looking to create beautiful wedding photography at this stunning Essex wedding venue.

Wedding Photography Essex

I love photographing weddings in Essex, it is such a beautiful part of the UK. With its beautiful landscapes and so many different wedding venues, Essex is a perfect county to choose for your wedding celebrations.

The recent Essex wedding of Louise and Bobby was a perfect example of what a great wedding day should be about. And that is simply a celebration of love and connection of two people surrounded by their families and friends.

I approached my Colville Hall wedding photography on the day in typical Blue Lily Weddings style. I focused on documenting the events of the day in an unobtrusive way, photographing all the big moments as well as the small ones in between. The key was to create a complete story of the wedding day.  One where the bride and groom as well as the bridal party and all the wedding guests just enjoy their day and have fun.

The goal was to tell a story with a beautiful set of wedding photographs that will make everyone looking through them feel as if they were there, bringing back memories and emotions from this beautiful wedding day.

Colville Hall – the Essex Wedding Venue

Colville Hall is such a perfect wedding venue to photograph. It has anything a bride a groom could wish for. Especially when organising a medium to a large wedding. It is located in the village of White Roding on the Essex/Hertfordshire border.

The ceremony barn is very spacious and can host a wedding ceremony for up to 250 guests. With that in mind, it still has a cosy feeling to it with gorgeous wooden beams and timber wall. It’s also great for a drinks reception in case it’s raining outside.

The wedding barn is another lovely space at Colville Hall. It is fairly large and with plenty of light coming through big windows.

Colville Hall also offers guests accommodation and first-class catering for their customers.

Wedding Day Photography at Colville Hall

Louise and Bobby’s wedding at Colville Hall was such a pleasure to document. We Started wedding photography on the day in the Saracen Hotel in a nearby village. That is where the bride and groom were getting ready.

So a few photos of the groom to be with his best man and ushers and off I went to photograph the girls. The bride to be was getting ready with her bridesmaids and flower girls in the atmosphere of joy and laughter. There were also a few tears, especially when the father of the bride saw her for the first time at her wedding dress-such a beautiful moment!

Then everyone moved to the Colville Hall-the main wedding venue for the day. The wedding ceremony took place at the Ceremony Barn with just over 100 wedding guests.

Then it was drinks reception outside and the wedding breakfast as well as the speeches at the Wedding Barn. We were so lucky with the weather as it was raining most of the day but the sun just came out for a few minutes before the sunset. We used that to get a few golden hour couple shots-perfect timing.

The wedding day finished with the cutting of the cake and the first dance. And of course, some crazy dance floor moves by the bride and groom and all their wedding guests. But don’t take my word for it, just look at the photos!
