Alternative Wedding Photographer London-Barge East Wedding

Alternative Wedding Photographer London

I love being a London alternative wedding photographer! Its so much fun photographing weddings that are a bit different from your standard wedding setup. Weddings that are a bit different, more hip and edgy but still focused on what’s most important in all this, the love and connection between two people tying the knot as well as their family and friends!

It just makes it so much more special when the bride and groom want to organise their wedding day in more original and true to themselves way.

It’s weddings like this that have more personality in them, reflecting who the newlyweds are and what they like and represent.

And what better way city to organise a wedding like that in than London. London has just so much to offer for anyone looking to organise a more alternative wedding or looking for an alternative wedding photographer.

Especially a little bit outside of central London, where old canals and industrial areas are being refurbished and modernised. That in result makes them trendy ann desirable often creating a perfect for anyone looking to plan a wedding that is slightly different and more personal.

Stratford Wedding Photographer

Last summer’s awesome wedding of Fang and Jamie in Stratford in East London was just a perfect example of that. When the bride and groom to be got in touch with me asking whether I’d be interested in photographing a bit more alternative London wedding the answer could only be one: hell yea!

And what a great and different wedding it was! Just perfect to blow a bit of freshness to my London wedding photography portfolio.

The whole day took place on a barge on one of East London canals in Hackney Wick called Barge East. The post-industrial area is now so full of life with new projects sprouting all around, from Olimpic village stadiums to new blocks of flats right by the water.

Barge East Wedding

The whole wedding day photography on and around Barge East was just perfect. The bride and groom to be both started early preparing the wedding venue for the day with a help of a few wedding guests.

All the wedding decorations were full of personal touches, the balloons, the flowers and also the cake.

The bride’s outfit was also more on a non-traditional side. Instead of a typical wedding dress, she wore a two-piece outfit with awesome pants, wide enough to look like a dress anyway!

The wedding ceremony took place on a lawn nearby, right by the canal, with people and barges passing bay and waving to the newlyweds. The wedding day weather was nice and crisp, and also quite windy. Just perfect for a wind swept hair in the wedding photos.

Most of the wedding day like drinks reception, first dance, wedding breakfast and cake cutting took place on the Barge East itself. Luckily we did manage to sneak out for a few photos with the bride and groom in the area. It was great using the canal as well as local art and architecture as a backdrop to the love and connection between Fang and Jamie.

Oh, and we even managed to borrow a canoe fro next-door neighbour Moo Canoes for a few photos of the newlyweds canoeing through the canal (with a close encounter with a massive barge too!).
