Islington Town Hall Wedding Photography
I just love being Islington Town Hall wedding photographer. This iconic London building on fashionable Upper Street is simply perfect for anyone looking to get married in London. Islington Town Hall is also great for a wedding photographer who wants to create beautiful memories for his newlywed couples and simply achieve beautiful wedding photography in London.
I photographed many weddings at Islington Town Hall and enjoyed every one of them. This stunning wedding venue, or should I say a civil ceremony London venue, has so much to offer.
The great thing about Islington Town Hall is that you can create beautiful wedding photography there and because it has four different rooms to offer for civil ceremonies. It is like being a wedding photographer at completely different wedding venue each time you are photographing in a different room, whether it is the Council Chamber, the Room Ninety Nine, Mayors Parlour or the Richmond Room.
Islington Town Hall Wedding Photos by London Wedding Photographer
The recent beautiful wedding of Lauren and Matt at the Islington Town Hall Richmond Room was no exception. The bride and groom of the day looked simply stunning. They were also such relaxed and down to earth newlyweds. They were surrounded by a lovely group of their wedding guests with bridesmaids, ushers and best man leading the way. I knew from the start it will be a great day with many beautiful wedding photos to show for it!
I approached my Islington Town Hall wedding photography in my typical photojournalistic style. I was photographing in an unobtrusive, documentary style, quietly observing situations as they unfolded and photographing all those important key moments. As well as documenting all the emotion, connection and interaction of the wedding day. The few exceptions were the few family portraits as well as a few intimate, more romantic photos of the bride and groom around the interiors of the Islington Town Hall.
But don’t take my word on it. Feel free to browse through my selection of Islington Town Hall wedding photos below.

Islington Town Hall – A Perfect Place For Your Wedding in London
For anyone looking to get married in London, Islington Town Hall is one of the best choices out there. Whether its small or large wedding ceremony. As a London wedding photographer, I couldn’t recommend this venue enough. Its central location is perfect with easy access for anyone living in or around London.
It’s marble staircase as well as beautiful interiors make for some of the nicest backdrops to wedding photographs.
One of the best features of the Islington Town Hall is the choice of rooms it offers for the wedding ceremonies.
The largest of the rooms, The Council Chamber can host up to a 100 people downstairs and an additional 60 in the upstairs balcony section. It makes it ideal for large weddings with all your family and friends.
The next one is Room 99, with slightly smaller, but also very beautiful interior.
The best room in Islington Town Hall for smaller, up to 12 people wedding ceremonies is the Mayors Parlour. Small as it is absolutely beautiful and grand, with beautiful ornaments, fireplace and luxurious furniture. It has so much charm and character simply ideal for more intimate weddings. It is here where we sneaked in for a couple of wedding photos with the bride and groom as it is right next door to the room when they got married.
The last room where our wedding ceremony took place is the Richmond Room. It hosts s up to 60 people and was just perfect for Lauren and Matt’s wedding. It has a long aisle and large picture windows that let in a lot of light which was just ideal for the wedding photographs.

Wedding Ceremony at Islington Town Hall Combined with Wedding Reception in a Nearby Pub
Another great thing is the Islington Town Hall is right in the middle of busy Angel and Islington, with its many gastro pubs and restaurants. Most of them can be easily and affordably hired to host a wedding reception. You can find a perfect wedding venue in the area for 10 as well over 100 guests.
Or if you are looking to host a party of a few hundred guests, there is the Islington Assembly Hall for hire just right next door!
That was also the case when I photographed this London wedding. After the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom, as well as their wedding guests, were transported a little bit further afield. The wedding drinks and the wedding reception took place at the Brookmill in Deptford in south-east London. The location was just perfect. The pub itself was great for the wedding party with its outside space as well as a spacious function room with windows letting in a lot of light from both directions. Which was great for wedding photography on the day.
Summer London Wedding Photography Using Natural Light
I photographed this London summer wedding using natural light throughout the day. That is I think the best approach to wedding photography documenting all the wedding events and guest and showing them exactly as they were.
The wedding day photography started at the bride and grooms home in Crystal Palace. I was very familiar with this part of London as I use to live just around the corner! So little bit of make-up, many hugs and kisses from the bridesmaids as well as the mother and father of the bride. After that, it was off to Islington Town hall for the wedding ceremony.
The groom was already there with his ushers and best man, greeting arriving wedding guests. The ceremony at the Richmond Room was simply beautiful, so many emotional moments! After saying their wedding vows and the first kiss we took a few minutes for a couple of wedding photos with just the bride and groom in the Mayors Palor as well as in the corridors of the Islington Town Hall. The light and framing is just such a great backdrop for wedding photos. And Matt and Lauren were amazing, their love just shone in the pictures.
After that, it was the traditional confetti on the outside steps. After which we all moved to the Brookmill for the wedding drinks and reception. The wedding breakfast was delicious, the wedding speeches were so emotional, just check the photos!
There was also a homemade wedding cake and many of the wedding table decorations were made by bride and grooms family and friends. The flower decorations and bride and bridesmaids bouquets were provided by awesome Floral Hues.
We even managed to go for a stroll with newlyweds to a nearby Brookmill park to take some late afternoon photos in the golden light of the setting sun. The timing was just perfect!
Thank you so much, Lauren and Matt, for letting me be your London wedding photographer. It was a great honour and pleasure and I enjoyed every minute of it.
