I love being an Islington Town Hall wedding photographer. This iconic London building on fashionable Upper Street in Islington is simply perfect for anyone looking to get married in London. Islington Town Hall is also great for a wedding photographer who wants to create beautiful memories for his newlywed couples and simply achieve beautiful wedding photography in London.

I photographed many weddings at Islington Town Hall and enjoyed every one of them. This stunning wedding venue, or should I say a civil ceremony London venue, has so much to offer.

The great thing about Islington Town Hall is that you can create beautiful wedding photography there and because it has four different rooms to offer for civil ceremonies. It is like being a wedding photographer at a completely different wedding venue each time you are photographing in a different room, whether it is the Council Chamber, the Room Ninety Nine, Mayors Parlour or the Richmond Room.

The recent beautiful wedding of Lauren and Matt at the Islington Town Hall Richmond Room was no exception. The bride and groom of the day looked simply stunning. They were also such relaxed and down to earth newlyweds. They were surrounded by a lovely group of their wedding guests with bridesmaids, ushers and best man leading the way. I knew from the start it will be a great day with many beautiful wedding photos to show for it!

I approached my Islington Town Hall wedding photography in my typical photojournalistic style. I was photographing in an unobtrusive, documentary style, quietly observing situations as they unfolded and photographing all those important key moments. As well as documenting all the emotion, connection and interaction of the wedding day. The few exceptions were the few family portraits as well as a few intimate, more romantic photos of the bride and groom around the interiors of the Islington Town Hall.

Islington Town Hall – A Perfect Place For Your Wedding in London

For anyone looking to get married in London, Islington Town Hall is one of the best choices out there. Whether it’s a small or large wedding ceremony. As a London wedding photographer, I couldn’t recommend this venue enough. Its central location is perfect with easy access for anyone living in or around London.

Useful Information about getting married at the Islington Town Hall

Islington Town Hall, with it’s marble staircase as well as beautiful interiors make for some of the nicest backdrops to wedding photographs.

One of the best features of the Islington Town Hall is the choice of rooms it offers for the wedding ceremonies.

Islington Town Hall holds monthly tours for couples to visit the building before choosing the room. More information here.

The Council Chamber:

The largest room in Town Hall, with beautiful high ceilings, stained glass windows and ornate carved wood panelling and red leather and oak pews.

The capacity is 85 guests on weekends and 50 guests on weekdays.

The Mayor’s Parlour

A lovely, intimate room for up to 4 guests.

Mayor’s Parlour features hand-painted stained glass windows, oak panelling and is furnished in gorgeous red leather and velvet.

Pets are not allowed in, unfortunately.

The Richmond Suite

It has a traditional aisle layout, is beautifully decorated with an ornate fireplace, high ceilings and oak panelling.

You can bring one pet with you for the Richmond Suite wedding ceremony.

Room 99

Room 99 is the most popular for more intimate wedding ceremonies at the Islington Town Hall. Simple and elegant room, with high ceiling and beautiful natural light pouring in through large windows.

It has been recently refurbished and is pet friendly with up to 1 pet allowed.

Room’s 99 capacity is 20 guests (not 99! 🙂

The Canonbury Suite

Another intimate room with capacity for the wedding couple and 2 witnesses.

Commitment ceremonies (enhanced ceremony bookings only)

The Angel Suite

The newest ceremony room addition at Islington Town Hall.

The capacity is the couple getting married plus 2 witnesses, registrars and 1 pet.

Statutory Room

It has 4 people capacity and is for City of London residents only.

There are no pets allowed and there are 2 ceremony types it offers:

The Anteroom

A pre ceremony room to relax before the wedding ceremony with up to 6 people capacity.

It can be used for 45 minutes before the ceremony as standard.

The Anteroom itself cannot be used for any types of ceremonies.

Wedding Ceremony at Islington Town Hall Combined with Wedding Reception in a Nearby Pub

Another great thing is the Islington Town Hall is right in the middle of busy Angel and Islington, with its many gastro pubs and restaurants. Most of them can be easily and affordably hired to host a wedding reception. You can find a perfect wedding venue in the area for 10 as well over 100 guests.

Or if you are looking to host a party of a few hundred guests, there is the Islington Assembly Hall for hire just right next door!

My style and approach to photographing weddings at the Islington Town Hall is always quite similar, even if every wedding is unique in itself.

The goal is to capture the essence, uniqueness and character of the wedding day with as little intrusion as possible in a beautiful way, using moemts, light and composition to create a beautiful story celebrating the wedding couple as well as their guests. This way the moments captured on camera are honest and in y humble opinion, more valuable for the couples for the years to come.

From getting ready to the wedding vows, change of rings and the first kiss, all the way to the confetti, drinks reception, wedding breakfast and the party. Blue lily weddings captures it all in a storytelling way.
